Why Choose Mediation?
For over thirty-one years, I was involved on a daily basis with Family Court proceedings. During the past twenty years I have been directly involved with divorce, custody, and parenting mediation, helping thousands of families resolve difficult and emotional issues relating to their children, parenting, and their divorce or separation.
I have seen, first-hand, the terrible toll that litigation can take on families- both emotional and financial. However, more and more families have chosen to trust themselves, rather than attorneys or the Court, to resolve their issues- through carefully guided, confidential and private mediation. My experience has prepared me to provide a variety of services to individuals who may be involved in the divorce process.
Throughout my years in the Family Court, many clients expressed concern over the lack of available services, both pre and post divorce judgment, to deal with the difficult issues typically associated with divorce. I have now established a private and confidential practice to provide services in three specific areas:
1. Pre-Divorce Education:
Providing clients with general information about the legal process prior to the filing of complaints, answers, etc., to hopefully avoid some of the emotion and conflict which can typically result after filing has taken place. Information would be provided regarding time frames relating to the Case Management Process, mediation versus Court proceedings, definition of common terms, facilitating transitions for children and adults, examples of various parenting time arrangements, etc.
2. Parenting Time Mediation:
Mediation of custody/parenting time issues, either individually or in co-mediation with an economic mediator (I will not be involved with the mediation of economic issues). The same general rules for mediation would apply, i.e. confidentiality, etc.
3. Post Judgment Co-Parenting Management:
Assisting parents in the implementation of parenting plans, revising out-dated or insufficient parenting arrangements, and addressing virtually all parenting related issues that arise in a
separation or divorce.
All of these services are rendered in a private and confidential setting, specifically designed to help those with divorce-related issues find their own solutions to their unique problems.
I look forward to assisting you and your family in the important process of learning to cope with the dilemmas which can result from family separation or divorce.
